Visit to the Reach Gallery

Our Grade 5 students took a journey to the REACH Gallery in Abbotsford to explore the history of Sumas Lake, and it's impact on the local and Indigenous cultures.  Did you know that 100 years ago, you could canoe from Abbotsford to Chilliwack on Sumas Lake?  Students also learned that while the draining of the lake provided more fertile farmland, it also took away one of the main transportation highway (canoing on the lake) between Indigenous tribes along the lake.  Thanks to Joel B., our Indigenous Support Worker for helping to set this up for us!
